Appearing in a Vogue Scandinavia feature, Lundgren promotes his self-produced autobiographical documentary, “Fights Worth Fighting.”
Lundgren reflects on his challenging childhood, revealing, “I had a tough childhood with my dad, who used to beat me up.” The 66-year-old actor admits, “I was a bit more damaged than I realized.”
Originally aiming to be a chemical engineer, Lundgren believes that career path would have hindered his healing. “I think I would have had a lot of problems personally. Probably relationship problems, too.”
Lundgren’s wife Emma shares insights into their relationship, noting it wasn’t love at first sight. The couple first connected as friends at an Equinox gym in Los Angeles in 2019.
“We liked each other and had a lot in common,” Emma says. “The Scandinavian culture was one thing; we talked a lot about that when he realized I was from Norway and I realized that he was from Sweden.”
Despite their 38-year age difference, Lundgren finds maturity in Emma. “Even though there is an age difference, I felt that Emma is somehow very mature for her age. She was married and divorced already, which is the same as me.”
Lundgren adds, “I felt that I am also fairly youthful for my age. I train and work with younger people all the time. So I felt somehow that it evened out the playing field a bit. It felt right. She knows a lot of stuff I don’t about the new world, and I know about the older world.”
