J. Balvin talks to Esquire about finding his musical inspiration in New York. He reveals in a translated quote, “This is where I decided to be an artist. At the time when I decided to come to New York, I came with a little fear of dedicating myself to music full-time.”
The music star continues, “When I arrived, I saw all the culture of hip-hop, how it was, how it lives in New York and not just the musical part, the commercial part…with the big billboards of Puff Daddy, Sean John, the brand, what was going on with Jay Z, Eminem, 50 Cent.” J. Balvin adds, “I fell in love with urban culture in general and said: ‘Yes, I want to devote myself fully to music–urban music'”
