Evans talks to Harrods about his reservations approaching Beauty and the Beast. The 37-year-old actor explains, “I was nervous about playing Gaston. I didn’t know if he was the right role for me. I thought, He’s not the title role; I should be playing the Beast!” Evans continues, “Then I spoke to my friend who has three children, to whom I’m godfather. He was like, ‘Dude, I watch it every week and it’s a great role.’ He explained that the arc the character goes through is humongous.”
Talking more about how his friend praised the character of Gaston, Evans adds, “He goes from being this lovable rogue to a complete monster when he can’t get what he wants – which is Belle. So we watched it with the kids and I instantly knew it was an amazing part. I went for the audition and sang my heart out to the director. Two weeks later, I was offered the role.” Read more on Magazine.Harrods.com.
