Today’s Space Age-Iconic designer Pierre Cardin returns to the runway this season with his futuristic designs, showcasing an outstanding number of looks, surpassing one hundred, that would be one hundred and thirty-eight to be exact. With smiles on their faces, Cardin’s models took to the catwalk in the designer’s signature take on quirky. The first round of ensembles were dominated by the sleeveless vest. Boasting circular arms, the Cardin staple was a just warmup for things to come. Peculiar suspenders, sweaters with cutouts and outlines, accented in fluorescent hues. Add neoprene and pvc and the models were ready for the next round, stripping down for clean trousers and eccentric ties. After a segment of pants with large grommets, Cardin introduced the most accessible pieces of the day, oversized dress shirts and relaxed trousers that led into boyish-cut double-breasted blazers. Pumping up the silhouette of the jacket for power looks, the collection gained momentum before returning to its outlandish signature, resulting in a finale dominated by body revealing jumpsuits. We’re not sure if those outlines could be classified as public indecency but altogether Cardin demonstrated he still knows how to put on one hell of a show.
