Kith and On Running have come together for a one-of-a-kind project to honor the US Open. Through this relationship, tennis legend Roger Federer and Kith creator Ronnie Fieg worked together on a pair of shoes called The Roger RF2 Set. These shoes will be sold as a set of two.
“Roger and I each carry a solid work ethic and a passion for our respective crafts,” explains Fieg. “We both strive to be and remain the very best at what we do.” Fieg adds, “That foundation of mutual respect, regardless of our profession, led to a sense of trust with one another in the design process.”
Kith x On Running: The Roger RF2 Set
The Kith x On Roger RF2 Set has a pair of shoes called The Roger Clubhouse Mid and The Roger Pro. This bundle includes a pair of lifestyle sneakers and high-performance shoes. Roger Federer and Ronnie Fieg venture outside their usual areas of competence for the collaboration. While Federer is responsible for The Roger Clubhouse Mid shoe design, Fieg is in charge of The Roger Pro model.
The Roger Clubhouse Mid is a brand-new style for a mid-top shoe. It has a high collar reminiscent of tennis shoes from the 1990s when tennis professionals favored playing in mid-tops. On’s unique Cloudtec and Speedboard technologies provide comfort and support for this sneaker. The upper of the shoe is vegan leather.
Meanwhile, the collar and inside are both made of recycled polyester fabric. As a tribute to Roger Federer’s early tennis career, the whole shoe is treated with clay and completed with a hand-signed signature by Federer. “My first challenger was on clay, my first satellite was on clay, the first player I beat was on clay,” says Federer.” “So, clay came first.”
Roger Federer discusses working with Kith and Ronnie Fieg for the new On sneaker set: “Ronnie has an immense amount of knowledge in the sneaker world and that paired with my experience in tennis made for a great collaboration that we are both proud of.”
Roger and Ronnie have the initials RF, adding to their collaboration motivation. “Roger’s RF logo is so iconic. So rather than alter it, we simply added the squared insignia so that it could represent the both of us,” Fieg says of the RF2 Logo, debossed on the medial quarter panels and tongue.
The Unisphere sculpture appears in the lateral quarter logo, a tribute to Fieg’s hometown of Queens, New York, and the location of the US Open. The Roger Clubhouse Mid is pre-rubbed with red clay, while The Roger Pro comes with a bag of clay for complete personalization. An instruction booklet is included to show owners how to apply the clay. Ronnie Fieg also individually autographed each pair.
Finally, since both models are marketed together, this two-pair set comes in distinctive co-branded double packaging. The unique double packaging includes three extra laces and dust bags for each style. The On The Roger RF2 Set will be available at all Kith locations on Monday, August 29th, at 11 AM EST on Kith.com and the Kith app and 11 AM CET on EU.Kith.com. The retail price is $550.
