In the heart of Florence, a monumental fashion celebration took place. LuisaViaRoma, the iconic Italian luxury retailer, partnered with British Vogue until recently led by Edward Enninful OBE to present an open-air catwalk show entitled ‘Runway Icons.’

This unique spectacle, an evolution of LuisaViaRoma’s 90th-anniversary fashion show in 2019, traced the evolution of global fashion and style through the decades, connecting past, present, and future in a captivating visual dialogue.

LuisaViaRoma x British Vogue Runway Icons

The fashion industry has always been about transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. The ‘Runway Icons’ show was no exception. More than seventy models and friends of LuisaViaRoma and British Vogue walked the runway, demonstrating a diverse array of contemporary style DNA.

The night began with a heart-stirring performance by Andrea Bocelli, who played four songs against the stunning backdrop of Florence. This magical introduction was followed by a parade of designs from emerging and established brands, each reflecting the brand’s unique iconography and heritage.

The Power Players

Behind this extraordinary show, power players from the fashion industry collaborated to bring the ‘Runway Icons’ to life. Key contributors included renowned casting director Piergiorgio Del Moro, editorial and runway makeup artist Pat McGrath, and famed hairstylist Sam McKnight. Their efforts culminated in a show that resonated with over 1500 guests from the world of creativity and fashion.

Capsule Collection Drops

In addition to the runway show, LuisaViaRoma will celebrate the event with a series of Capsule Collection Drops. Every Thursday until November 2023, they will dedicate a section of their website to launching a unique capsule in collaboration with showcased brands like Giorgio Armani, Moncler, Ray-Ban, and Tom Ford. This exciting initiative allows fashion enthusiasts worldwide to participate in the event’s magic and get their hands on exclusive designs.

Quotable Moments

Edward Enninful OBE, Vogue European editorial director, spoke about ‘Runway Icons.’ He said, “The scale and spectacle of tonight’s event demonstrates the calibre of visionary talent within our industry and I am honoured to bring this to life for so many people. To be here alongside friends and collaborators, in this historic city, is a landmark moment. We’re proud to share this with the world.”

Echoing this sentiment, Andrea Panconesi, LuisaViaRoma Founder and President, emphasized the brand’s continuous celebration of fashion, stating, “This incredible event, that has been conceived to be highly inclusive, showed our most authentic approach to the business: respectful of the past, focused on the present, and projected into the future.”
