Classic tailoring comes together with a graphic punch for Salvatore Ferragamo’s fall-winter 2016 men’s collection.

The starting inspiration for Salvatore Ferragamo’s fall-winter 2016 men’s collection were a simple pair of Andy Warhol’s paint-splattered Ferragamo Oxfords. For Ferragamo creative director Massimiliano Giornetti, the shoes represented a brilliant mix of the formality found in the brand’s heritage and an unparalleled sense of relaxed artistry. Seeking to capture that same essence for fall, Giornetti played with codes of traditional menswear.

Juxtaposing classic staples with a graphic use of color and print, Ferragamo unveiled a wardrobe for the individual. Striking a smart balance of function and style, items such as the dufflecoat proved essential, while the use of a bright mustard yellow is guaranteed to give the coat’s wearer great character.

Tapping into the season’s most dominant trends, hero pieces in the collection included outerwear that featured shearling and Japanese nylon. Interweaved throughout tailored wardrobes were knits with geometric patterns. Bringing together Italian wool and British mohair, single and double-breasted suits gave the outing a sartorial edge, showcasing herringbone, Prince of Wales checks and houndstooth.
