showing for the first time in valencia, spain on the occasion of the 8th semana de la moda (the valencia fashion week) within the “zona d” section, the platform for the emerging designers, young catalan georgina vendrell was awarded the prize for the best collection which she shared along with retal reciclaje creativo

georgina’s collection for aw1011 is called “la materia” (the matter) and is inspired by the fabrics …
from matter shape emerges …
from texture warmth comes out …
from colour personality arises …
materials are transformed through creativity and with the concept of wrapping up the male body for a cold winter … the garments are very warm and have textures (wools, knitwear, leather and synthetic furs) that remind us of animal skins, combined with finer ones (cotton, nylon) in order to contrast with the volumes … skinny or pleated pants, short jackets, tweed duffle-coat with leather inserts and faux fur collar, astrakhan-like coat, and my favourites : the double-breasted biker style jacket and the flannel one-piece suit ! the colour range includes the lightest shades on earth and winter black with all of its nuances, while maroon and glossy aspects give a touch of light to the clothes that blend in with nature; liberty and graphic prints, checks or stripes adding some relief …

after her very impressive aw0910 collection, georgina confirms once again that she is definitely part of the new names to follow in menswear !
