Culture Clash–Presenting his spring/summer 2014 collection during New York Fashion Week, designer Sergio Davila was inspired by vintage photographs of Latin America during the 1920s. At the time, cities such as Lima, Buenos Aires and Havana were experiencing art deco architecture as a result of the neoclassical movement. Translating this moment for his collection, Davila looked to combine prints and shapes, balancing the culture found in rural areas with the advancing nature of angular architecture found in progressive cities such as Buenos Aires.
