Men’s Fishtail Parkas
In the spirit of fall, we revisit another wardrobe icon–the fishtail parka coat. Originally named the M-51, the U.S. military introduced the coat during the Cold War and came in handy for the Korean War. The parka’s fishtail was created to combat the elements.
Tied around its wearer’s legs, the fishtail conveniently created a barrier against wind gusts. While the fishtail may not be necessary for functionality today, the fishtail parka remains a must-have. Typically made of cotton and nylon, the fishtail parka is a practical style option that provides a lightweight affront to cold weather.
