Taking It All In–Men’s dress shirts have done a complete 180 from loose relaxed fits to the trim, tailored styles guys are wearing now. But, according to Bloomberg, shirts are about to get even skinnier–”[up to] 4 inches smaller around the waist and chest than plain old slim versions,” the article says. Bloomberg mentions how shirts first dropped size in the middle after designers Hedi Slimane and Thom Browne started revolutionizing the suit and, subsequently, the dress shirt to flash back to the skinny ’60s. But, Bloomberg continues, maybe it’s the dress-shirt industry that does need sprucing up and slimming down, especially after sales of dress shirts fell 3% in the past year. Time will only tell if the Great Dress-Shirt Slim-Down of 2014 is imminent in menswear.
