British designer Tim Soar understands the importance of continuity. With a new collection entitled “Folding Diagrams for a Spread Squash”, Soar continues a gradual progression of his own version of minimalism. Soar explains his inspiration of spread squash as its very definition of being pulled “in (nearly) opposite directions to form a new shape with an existing base.” In this same vein, Soar transforms traditional menswear into a range that is very boxy. With silhouettes pulled and shaped in a futuristic manner, Soar defies contemporary standards for a look that is uniform, yet breaks the mold. Pressed or wrinkled, the collection interjects menswear with spontaneity and a certain liveliness. Soar’s suits are instantly distinguishable from the majority, while enabling its wearer to inhibit a space that takes the best of casual and dress for a modern adventure.
