#ChocolateHeaven Challenge-In this day and age, nearly everyone is connected and accessible via social media, even Swiss professional tennis player Roger Federer. An active and avid user of Twitter and Facebook, Federer keeps his fans updated, whether its sharing mail that includes letters and cards of support, taking a helicopter ride or putting out a challenge to other athletes. Federer took to Twitter this past October, tweeting “If you could watch me play any other athlete in any other sport (other than our own sport), what sport and what athlete? #AskedRF” After a summer of tennis, American World Cup alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn (also on Twitter and Facebook) couldn’t resist proposing her own challenge to Federer. Vonn tweeted the tennis pro with “I’ll ski with u if u play tennis with me.”
Always up for a challenge, as well as a supporter and friend of Vonn, it was a no-brainer for Federer to agree to a fun face-off against her in their prospective sports. Lindt & Sprüngli, known for its premium chocolate, brought the competitive pair together, capturing their challenge for a fun promotional event. Setting up a dramatic stage, Federer and Vonn played atop a tennis court set on the Aletsch Glacier in Switzerland. Unsurprisingly, Federer won the tennis match, but nevertheless, after a fun lighthearted competition, Vonn was in great spirits, especially with her present of Lindt chocolates.
Extending their friendship past the competition, Federer and Vonn continue to support each other. When Vonn tore her ACL, Roger was quick to send her flowers and wishes of speedy recovery, while Vonn attentively followed Federer’s recent Wimbledon final, wishing him well.
