Leaving behind a season of black and gray, Ana Locking designer Ana González infuses her latest collection with bold prints and vibrant colors. Relating fashion to an antidote, González does not water down her intentions, instead seeing fashion as a release from the pressures of everyday life. This season’s concept expresses that “from the moment we accept that medicines exist in that space between life and death, and we accept that pleasure produces a relief of pressures, we find that any kind of antidote, in this case fashion, even without a reason, can supply vital, emotional and sense relief. Accepting this necessity means we’re still alive.” Continuing in this vein, men are invited to take part in a range that embraces silk organza and satin. From optimistic pops of yellow to sensuous shimmers of deep red, González challenges tradition with padded shoulders, sheen and even a sheer jumpsuit. While several of her designs may push the envelope far too much for the majority, it is evident that she had fun with the collection, turning out a range that celebrates the innovation and spontaneity of fashion.
