As my final statement in regards to building a wardrobe, don’t be afraid to work the pieces you do have.  Try new pairings.  Wear a waistcoat over a sweater or flannel under a blazer. If you have an old shirt or sweater, and you’re daring, you might even want to try grabbing a pair of scissors and readjusting the cut.  Experimenting, you might come up with a fresh look that actually works!
