Venice Film Festival
The Venice Film Festival or Venice International Film Festival is one the oldest film festivals in the world. Rightfully, critics place it within the “Big Three” film festivals. The other two festivals are the Cannes Film Festival and Berlin International Film Festival.
The Venice International Film Festival takes place on the island of Lido in Venice, Italy. It dates back to 1932. The festival typically features around 100 films per year. Usually, the Venice Film Festival occurs in late August or early September.
Venice Film Festival Awards
You may be wondering what brings the reputation of the festival. Awards are a critical component of the film festival. Professionals vie for significant honors. They include the Golden Lion for the best film or director in the competitive section. Other awards are Grand Jury Prize, Volpi Cup (best actor/actress), Special Jury Prize (one or two films) and Golden Ossela (best technical contribution and best screenplay).
