Catapulting Latin pop to the spotlight, Martin performed his hit single The Cup of Life at the 1999 Grammy Awards. Soon after he released his first English-language album, which was self-titled.
It became one of his best selling albums after selling twenty-two million copies. It spawned hits such as Livin’ la Vida Loca and She’s All I Ever Had. The English follow up Sound Loaded included Nobody Wants to Be Lonely, a duet with Christina Aguilera.
After years of albums and touring, Martin took a break from 2007 to 2010. On March 29, 2010, Martin came out publicly and the following November, he released his autobiography Me. More recently, Martin was cast as Antonio D’Amico in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
