The Sharp Fundamentals–Amongst the busy schedule of London Collections: Men was the standout presentation by Timothy Everest showcasing his latest collection at his tailoring hub in East London. A tour around his “atelier” saw his craftsmen and craftswomen at work, from various processes of measuring and tailoring to the hand sewing of “Sprat’s heads” – a prominent and decorative hand stitched detailing featured in Everest’s spring/summer 2013 collection. With clients and stockists all over the world, Everest designed a collection that would function well in all climates and seasons, suitable for the world traveller more concerned with effortless style and finesse than trends and what is fashionable. The result is an immaculate twenty-two piece collection that is luxurious yet accessible, elevating the casual with expert custom tailoring in British fabrics that is signature to Timothy Everest. Unlined pieces such as the cropped wool jacket and structured overcoat are designed to be layered with luxurious underpinnings such as t-shirts and chunky knits in brushed cotton, linen and cashmere, with each piece carefully crafted and made to fit the contours of the body. In a muted neutral palette lifted with butcher’s blue and fresh green accents that would work in any wardrobe, the collection is fresh and subtle yet modern and relevant in design and silhouette. A beautifully shot video presentation at the end of the tour puts in perspective how the collection would translate in the real life of a man. With the combination of the skills and heritage of tailoring and careful research into durable and functional fabrics, together insights into the lifestyle of the modern man, Timothy Everest’s latest offering summarized the sophisticated edge of London men’s style. / Words by Kenny Ho, Fashionisto London Fashion Editor.
