Lady Chatterley’s Lover 1920s Costume Design
Emma Fryer, the costume designer for Netflix’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover, wanted to create a look for Oliver Mellors—the working man of the 1920s, that was both stylish and comfortable. “I didn’t want him to be in brown of-the-period clothing,” Fryer told WWD. “We had to get away from that. I wanted his clothes to have a contemporary feel.”
Oliver Mellors’ French Workwear
Fryer brings a contemporary eye to 1920’s men’s style with a nod to French workwear. Embracing pieces like the chore jacket, Fryer explains, “I wanted him to have a different feel, and to give him a look that was very much his own.”
