showing for the 2nd time at modalisboa as part of “lab”, young talented brazilian vitor bastos (the designer behind the label vítor) introduced for aw1011 “macedonian identity”, a collection proving – after last season’s “watch the greek” motivated by the december 09 events in greece – the designer’s concern for what’s going on in the world …

inspired by the current political and social situation in macedonia, the identity issues of this country (or F.Y.R.O.M.) and its problem to raise a name for themselves, the collection flows in to misled ways with the purpose to assure itself … the lack of identity could lead the information in circles … but basing the process in this lack will present layered outfits with a linear yet chaotic atmosphere …

vitor joins modern with traditional, simple with complex, transparent with opaque, using contradictions which unite to construct a deconstruction …
hand-knitted piqué top & shorts or leggings, jacquard knit track pants & jumpsuit, baggy trousers with gussets, unusual cardboard inserts …
alpaca (pure or blended with silk), virgin wool, piqué and leather … black, grey and beige with highlights of blue or orange …

i really loved the leather sweatshirt and the mesh cardigan as well as the great soundtrack using the same music (“blaue moschee” by die vögel) from beginning to end !
