I don’t know what I was expecting, but I did a double-take when I saw the William Rast collection. I forgot what magazine I was reading, but in it Justin Timberlake was spewing out the most pretentious statements about how he felt about fashion and then he associates himself with this. What really hurts my soul is the fact that Johan Lindeberg lent his talents, which obviously were not utilized. This collection looks like someone trying to imitate Dolce & Gabbana and failing. Are they serious? The logo patches are intrusive and obnoxious, and the jeans offer nothing special. In fact, I get what they were trying to do with the khakis, but they do not come across as stylish at all. Instead of attempting to play with the idea of working with your hands, etc.; it looks like you actually do. Not that it’s a bad thing. It’s just why spend so much money for that look and not have some stylish flair? The suits or whatever you would call those ghastly pieces look overworked, making them sloppy. I do not like the material, the color palette, the cropped ties, or leaving the button-downs un-tucked. This collection is just messy.

You summed up the collection perfectly in your last sentence, “This collection is just messy.” There was nothing new or eyecatching and it was just a ho-hum attempt at design. Many of the graphics tried to speak for many of the outfits, I think I even saw some tired old skull graphics in the mix. You could tell the root of the look stems from someone that was in N’sync.
I am not a fan of this collection at all.

I don’t really love anything about Justin Timberlake except what his stylist’s have been doing to him for the very recent years (Justin Timberlake + Neil Barrett = :D). So this collection turned into an absolute disappointment when I found out that he was involved. Oh well. I’ll just hope that this is one of the cases where someone weeds out the cheap concepts before they can begin to stumble on something… better.
Btw, I love this blog. Kudos for keeping it constantly updated.
