Y-3 Fall/Winter 2014–Showing his Y-3 collection in Paris for the first time, creative director Yohji Yamamoto summed up the new outing, expressing “The collection is an homage to the couturiers of the 60’s. I wanted to infuse this spirit into it. I was also thinking of super heroes and the kind of clothes they wear. Cut for an active and fighting life style, so I brought these two worlds together.” Here, the collection got up to a running start with shades of navy and olive green dressing oversized coats, a new track suit, active shorts over sweatpants and a relaxed suit. Playing with Adidas’ famous bars, graphics in black and white mimicked a heroic symbol. Subtle but of interest, comic-book inspired prints also made a debut, covering windbreakers and pants. Rounding out the collection with fluorescent pops of color, lines traced conservative silhouettes built for the best in mobility.
