Y-3’s fall-winter 2015 menswear collection tackled aviation for the season’s theme. Always looking to marry past, present and future, designer Yohji Yamamoto was particularly fascinated by the element of the unknown. Looking to capture that magic, men’s and women’s looks debuted that captured the brave, fearless attitude, using somber military themed hues with a minimal splash of color. Looking to Amelia Earhart and the Royal Air Force as muses, Yamamoto envisioned an aviation silhouette of tailored and slim lines for an elegant finish that allowed for a mix of wool, flannel and neoprene. The results included croppd jackets, military-cut blazers with straps, leather A-1 flight jackets and as always, an advancement of sporty footwear.
