Spring 2010 is looking gloomy for Yohji Yamamoto. Falling victim to the recession, Yamamoto opted out of a runway show this season, instead having a showroom presentation. Shown was a restrained selection of suiting pieces that conform to the designer’s signature oversized aesthetic. All black and no fun with the exception of the mohair knits, it is unfortunate that the collection lacks pieces to capture the imagination. Showcasing the classics is fine and dandy, but hopefully come fall 2010, Yamamoto will bounce back with a fresh creative perspective.

i miss the times of giant tartan wraps.
